Protection of children from sexual offenses or Pocso act was passed by Parliament of India on May 22, 2012. The total number of pan India level cases in Pocso is approx 1, 48,000 till 2019 in which 47,335 cases reported in 2019 alone.

- In 2018, 39,827 cases were reported.

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Thursday removed the charge of Pocso from the former wrestling federation chief Bhrij Bhusan Singh as no evidence is found against him.
Whereas the sexual harassment charge is still active.
What is the Pocso Act?
Protection of Child from Sexual Offenses or commonly known as Posco was enacted in 2012 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
The Parliament passed the law in the protection of children from the sexual abuse.
A special court will be assigned for a fast trial of the case.
